The FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (FCT CPWB) was established on 24th March 1994.  FCT CWP consist of a Board established by the Honourable Minister of State and headed by a chairman, with six (6) Members. Their appointment is on part time basis.

FUNCTIONS OF THE BOARD

The Board of the FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board is vested with the following responsibilities: –

  1. Arrange suitable transport for the pilgrims to and from the airport or transit camps or both in Nigeria and Holy land during Pilgrimage:
  2. Arrange suitable accommodation for the Pilgrims in the Holy land and render all reasonable assistance which the Pilgrims may require in the matters concerning health, immigration, security, foreign exchange and consular services:
  3. Exercise such powers and duties as may be delegated by Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) or the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on any relevant issue concerning the general Welfare of Christian Pilgrims, in FCT:
  4. The Board shall, at the end of each Pilgrimage, submit to the Minister, a comprehensive report of the Board’s activities during the Pilgrimage.

The FCT CPWB is premised on the Vision and Mission statements below:-

MISSION

To protect and safeguard the interest and Welfare of Pilgrims from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Nigeria and in the Holy Land(s), Israel, Greece and Rome in accordance with the Nigeria Pilgrimage and the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s (FCTA) Policy.

VISION

To provide adequate enabling environment for effective and efficient service delivery to Federal Capital Territory Pilgrims and to facilitate a hitch-free annual Pilgrimages to the Holy Land(s) with respect to spiritual satisfaction, transport, accommodation, consular and protocol services in Nigeria and Holy Land(s) Israel, Greece and Rome

MAJOR EDITIONS OF PILGRIMAGE 

In line with the calendar of activities of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) Two (2) major editions of Pilgrimages are conducted every year. They include: –

  1. Easter Pilgrimage       –   April/May/June
  2. Regular Pilgrimage    –    October/December (sometimes to January)

1. EASTER PILGRIMAGE

This edition is mainly organized for spillover intending pilgrims who could not travel during the October/ December edition of the preceding year. In addition, all other intending pilgrims who intend to celebrate Easter season in Israel are airlifted during this edition of pilgrimage.

2. OCTOBER/DECEMBER PILGRIMAGE

This is the regular edition of the Pilgrimage as majority of FCT intending Pilgrims perform the Pilgrimage during this period.
